These are part of our Christmas and Easter traditions. But they seem to be popular any time we get together. The cinnamon roll tradition started with Grandma Eitzen (Rubena), Bob's grandmother. Of course she made them by hand in her kitchen in Fairview, Oklahoma.

  1. Combine all ingredients (except stage 2 butter and cinnamon sugar) in bread machine. Take care that ingredients are warm enough for yeast to activate.
  2. Adjust bread machine setting to manual and press (just use the machine to mix the dough).
  3. Wait for dough to rise (usually about 2 hours)
  4. Place dough on a large floured surface.
  5. Roll into a large rectangle, as thin as possible without holes.
  6. Soften .75 stick of butter (stage 2) and spread it over the rectangle completely.
  7. Sprinkle a liberal amount of cinnamon sugar over the dough.
  8. Roll the dough
  9. Slice into 1.5 inch discs
  10. Place in 9 x 13 pan (greased)
  11. Allow to rise for 1 hour
  12. Bake at 375 degrees fahrenheit (190 degrees celsius) for about 20 minutes until golden on top.
  13. See Cream Cheese Frosting recipe for icing.
